November 14: Influx of Funding for Clean Energy Transformation
After decades of inaction, an unprecedented amount of federal funding is flowing to States, clean energy industries, and communities to address the impacts of climate change and support decarbonizing our economy. This afternoon’s two sessions will examine the different pots of funding that are available and how those resources will flow through the states to communities most in need.
November 17: Clean Energy Community & Equity Issues
The energy system has disproportionate impacts on Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities, including the siting of existing fossil fuel infrastructure, hydropower’s contribution to the collapse of wild fisheries, and higher energy bills and less access to the benefits of the clean energy transformation. We are in a moment when we can begin to ameliorate past mistakes. To decarbonize our energy system and address social, environmental, and economic harms we will need significant new investments in clean energy resources – but we must be deliberate and thoughtful when we make decisions. While nothing is benign, we must recognize current and historic impacts and mitigate them for the future. This afternoon we will examine two important equity issues in the region: Siting Issues of New Resources and Energy System Impacts on Salmon.

Oregon’s Energy Future Offshore Wind Symposium

10 SPEAKERS, 10 MINUTES, 10 SLIDES. That’s all there is to it: the Green Building Slam. A simple idea, started years ago, has transformed into one of the most fun and inspirational green building events of the year. Learn about 10 innovative, sustainable, high-performance “green” buildings that push the envelope in our built environment. Projects range from residential to multi-family to mixed use developments in the Pacific NW.
Each of our juried 10 presenters will have just 10 minutes to show us 10 slides of their exciting project as they explain what they learned, what they would do differently, and any other sustainable contributions that their project has made to our local community. Each presenter has been trained by a speech coach, and is excited to share their project with the masses.
Our audience typically attracts architects, builders, homeowners, energy efficiency experts, real estate professionals, interior designers and fabulous, eco-conscious people like you.
