Mitsubishi-owned canned goods supplier Princes Group has seen canned seafood sales rise in recent months to levels even higher than at the height of the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020.
In a sign of the impact of inflation on consumer spending, research from market analysts at Kantar found more buyers in the United Kingdom purchased canned foods in the past four months compared with same period in 2020. Growth in the sector has been outpacing the rest of grocery market since February 2022.
